Sig P238: Reference .380
It’s expensive but to many it will be worth it. The outstanding Sig P238 achieves high levels of portability and performance with its slim 14 ounce carry weight (empty). It makes an excellent backup gun for an officer or a primary and comfortable-to-carry gun for a CCW holder. For 1911 afficionados, it offers the exact same battery of arms which could simplify training. In some ways, the Sig P238 resurrects the defunct Colt Mustang design, a gun that was also very small, lightweight, and comfortable in carry. However a Colt Mustang this gun is not: it’s much more reliable and its performance is a testament to proper R&D achieved by Sig Sauer. In about 250+ rounds of fire, we found the little P238 to be extremely accurate, comfortable and fun to shoot, and totally reliable with both PMC, Winchester USA FMJ, and 90 gr Federal Hydrashok loads. Few .380s achieve such performance without break-in straight from the box (except perhaps the excellent Walther PPK, another .380 favorite) and impressed us. The ergonomics are excellent with well placed controls, no sharp edges, good looking and high traction aluminum grips, excellent Tritium-dot night sights, and a well-placed mag release. Firepower, like in most subcompact .380s is limited to 6+1 but the gun reloads fast. The single action trigger adequately smooth, consistent, and helps achieve the impressive accuracy. Field strip and maintenance on the P238, as shown, is fast and simple which again is unusual for some .380 designs …

@IslandersMets10
Why?
@IslandersMets10
shot them both, no way, i like kahr though, the pm9 is my next purchase
got it last week nutnfancy, the alum grip with laser, just the night sighs are worth 100 bucks on this thing, have been leaving m LCP at home more and more, ran 200 rounds of WWB, Federal and my carry ammo REM 95JHP through, have had no issues, recoil is AWESOME compared to the LCP, laser makes it sweet, Once again SIg comes through, my 5th Sig, but definitely not my last.
only guns for me, Glock, Sig, HK, Ruger, and SW revolvers, next gun though KPM9
Keep up the great wok bud.
Gotta get your hands on a SW Bodyguard .380 for a review!
I’d like to see a Bersa .380 cc review.
How did you ever get one? I am a small Dealer with an FFL License. Sig would never even return several calls and e-mail messages inquiring about getting a few or one. I Finally contacted some Distributors that carry Sig and they laughed hard at me literally for even asking about getting one. They flat out said unless you are a huge buyer you don’t have a chance in hell for a long long time. Thanks
sell that gun to my dad so he has something to carry!
sell that dang gun to my mom so she has a gun to carry!
The Kahr P.380 dominates this gun!
Great review. I just traded up from a P3AT to the SAS P238. My biggest beefs with the Kel-Tec were the lack of usable sights and no slide-lock on empty.
I’m a 1911 guy, and the P238 feels great in the hand and I love the night sightsI (blocky though they may be). I haven’t fired it yet, but the P3AT was not exactly “fun to shoot”, so I’m looking forward to it!
I love this gun…used 1911s since I fist started shooting and have no problems with a 1911 cocked and locked carry, however I don’t see a grip safety here and that is something I will have to think about. What do you think?
This gun totally reminds me of my Mustang plus II.
Nice job nutn. I love this gun. She is a winner through and through. I only wish they had incorporated in a double trigger design like the ppk.
I just paid $634 for mine in Austin, and that was cheap in my area. I got the all-black model with rosewood grips, which costs a little bit more than the version you were showing.
Also, the old Colt Mustang magazines will work with this gun and cost 1/3 the price.
@nutnfancy if you dont mind could you do the review on the taurus 709 slim. Thank you

@ReservedRealist Awesome! Thanks for watching. — Veri (Nutn’s sister)
I think that James Bond would leave his PPK at home, to carry the new Sig.
Thanks for all you do, I really appreciate these reviews. Just became a sheepdog this week.
@JackSureshot
Pocket holster.
Also the safety would be quite difficult to unintentionally disengage.
awesome vid. awesome.
