If you told me humans existed before the earth, I’d want to see the experiment you did to confirm that, make sure it’s reproducible, and submit it for peer review.
Oh. I didn’t realize that. Let me get my notes.
Humans… OLDER THAN… Earth.
I think man just through out time altered the bible to control people with fear besides human condition hasn’t changed with christiananty there was war before and there is war still what value does it have its time we free our selfs from it!
@isaacgregg
probably, and no.
and that is two questions.
Was Yeshua Crucified? Did he raise from the dead. That’s a question to answer.. thank you
The prick that posted this section has censored parts –
Especially at 1:07/08 where parts of Christopher Hitchens speech are cut off!
FFreeThinker your not showing us everything his saying!!
I’m sorry what did you say? I was busy having my head on a carpet praying to the non existant
The only reason I responded to your comment is henceforth. I assume that you are on the same level that I am as far as reality, observance, scientific curiosity, etc. I am not attempting to make myself better than you, but as a “friend” in the sense of our beliefs, I try to help people expand themselves. All I was stating was that it is easier to combat the “enemy-per-se” with definite examples than to give them partial evidence as they try to do to us. I’m sorry. Good luck in your endeavours.<3
@spydertub3
“I am not claiming that you did”
ok, don’t respond to my comments.
“What I am trying to show you…”
Please, don’t waste your time. I’m really not interested.
“I am not trying to find enemies or troll”
This correspondence is terminated.
There have been many times in which I have watched debates between the theist/deist and anti-theist/atheist groups and for their own devices, will quote Darwin, Einstein, Hawking, Newton in an attempt to gain higher ground has if they have any to hold. When you put the entire quote into context by showing them what came before and after and WHY the person in question made the statement in the first place, it completely decimates their argument and you maintain your status at the intelligent.
I am not claiming that you did. All I am saying is that the literal theists do the same thing. They will take a quote like that and apply it to their own reasons and methods without misquoting. What I am trying to show you is that there is much MORE that goes into a brilliant quote such as the previous listed one. I am not trying to find enemies or troll, but I like for people to be able to give a good definition. A quote like that needs pretext and posttext to really give it true meaning.
@spydertub3
I paraphrased, hence no attribution or quotes.
Criticism has plucked the imaginary flowers on the chain not in order that man shall continue to bear that chain without fantasy or consolation, but so that he shall throw off the chain and cull the living flower. – Karl Marx
Religious suffering is, at one and the same time, the expression of real suffering and a protest against real suffering. Religion is the sigh of the oppressed creature, the heart of a heartless world, and the soul of soulless conditions. It is the opium of the people The abolition of religion as the illusory happiness of the people is the demand for their real happiness.The criticism of religion is, therefore, in embryo, the criticism of that vale of tears of which religion is the halo.
If you’re going to quote Karl Marx. Quote him correctly. I urge all of you that find interest in this quote to look up the test before and after wards. I agree with you completely, but don’t take such little “jabs” as literal truth.
I will post them here.
Expand yourselves and read all text involved. If you quote mine like this, you become just as bad as the theocracy-controlled people who argue against you.
@CharlieWhitesWig , Yes but opium is yummy!!! o.O
Religion : The opiate of the masses.
My only disagreements center on the Iraq war. Yes it was evil, many as bad or worse. Stop supporting bought off dictators. And get off foreign oil! Govts. living off taxes-harder to suppress it’s people. Not impossible, just hard work.
His religion debates are priceless.
So far, I would tend to agree…
A scoundrel and a scamp with silver tongued eloquence.
Hitch is the best. Haven’t seen a bad speech by him yet. Some I disagree with but all good.
Modern day Hemingway.
nothing more then just physical..so nothing to demonstrate. men have the power to create.. and yes we also have the power to create god.. god is man made … without men there will be no god.
Yes, that’s my point. Nobody has shown that the “immortal soul” is anything more than wishful thinking. Yet the religious claim certainty that it exists.
@jursamaj
No one can. If there were an invisible essence that never dies, it would be present in all of us. So far this agrees with the bible IF this mystery aspect of us were indeed real.
Why would this “soul” be constrained/forced to go one place or another? How do you restrain or urge something (by it’s own definition untouchable) to do anything? How could it burn if it’s not physical?
Unseen and unheard, no empirical proof
whatsoever.
Can you demonstrate that we are something more than just physical?
On a related note, do you remember all that fuss a few years ago (In the US at least) about teens taking “abstinence pledges”?
The funny thing is that many of them didn’t consider anal or oral sex to *be* sex, and thus their pledge didn’t apply.
And since, of course, they were not educated about condoms, their STD rates were pretty high too.
